Meet Humphrey
Humphrey is a 1963 Wolseley Hornet. We purchased him early in 2001 as a runabout for a few months from a family that used him for the school run. He came with an mot but still needed a lot of general maintenance work for the next MOT – I don’t think he would have been on the roads for much longer if we hadn’t purchased him. Then I changed jobs and he ended up doing over 70K in three years most admirably ( plus a 2 ½ week touring holiday in Sweden), classifying him as a rolling restoration (sort of like “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”). If there was ever a car that enjoyed been driven then this is it.
Motor sport has always been an interest to us, so in may 2003 we entered the Berwick classic rally as a bit of fun, and doing surprisingly well for a first event (like we managed not to be last!!) and actually setting a fastest test time.
Since then the motor sport bug has bitten, so now any work done to him is done with a thought given to competition, and a test bed for any ideas I come up with.
Humphrey gets a new floor (sorry this album is a bit rubbish as I lost most of the pics when the PC crashed)
